All You Need To Know About Using A Laser Engraver

If you’re considering getting yourself a laser engraving machine, whether to start a new hobby or to start a business using it, there are a few things you need to think about first.

Laser engraving machines for sale

At Yorahome, we know from our customers how important getting the right machine is and we have been able to provide just what they needed.

In this article, we will take you through the basics, the factors to consider before buying the best laser engraving machines for sale for you and how it works.

What is a laser engraving machine?

Firstly, laser engraving machines are sophisticated pieces of machinery. But, don’t let that put you off, they are much easier to use than you’d expect.

The picture below shows the Yora CNC Laser Engraving Machine 6550 which is regarded as the best DIY laser engraver on the market today!

With its working area of 65x50cm (26x20”), it’s the ideal CNC laser engraver for everything from home use to a home business.

It comes with either a 3W, 5.5W or 15W Yora laser module. But, we are getting ahead of ourselves here. Back to the basics!

What is the technology behind laser engraving?

The principle behind laser engraving is quite simple really.

The laser beam cuts into or marks the material you’re working with, leaving behind a permanent engraving. It is the heat of the beam of the laser which does the work.

When a material is exposed to the beam, depending on the material and the laser power, the beam can remove a section of a material, leaving the engraved mark in its place.

The depth of the engraving that is left can vary, thanks to the control that is offered to users by modern laser setups, with everything from the 3W, 5.5W & 15W Yora Laser Modules

CNC Carving Machines (Computer Numerical Control) or MOCN (Digital Numerical Control Tool) are first and foremost machine tools: depending on its characteristics, it allows a variety of tasks to be performed - drilling, cutting, grinding, cutting, grinding, bending, tapping, tapping, welding, wrapping, fittings, etc. - which requires direct and / or repetitive touch, on a variety of objects. In the case of CNC, these operations will be computerized or digital controlled.

CNC Carving Machines

Under the name "CNC" there are many devices that are different from each other especially with the tool used. I will introduce here a CNC rule that allows a machine to remove equipment using cutters, drills, etc. This CNC was designed and built by a recent buyer. Finally, my knowledge of the field is very recent and above all self-teaching; I have never followed any training and I do not have a diploma from a mechanic or anyone else.

Possibilities

Mechanical materials are very diverse, a key factor in separating them from hardness. The harder the material, the more CNC will take, as well as the tool in it, to have the quality and power of the machine. However, to start making machines without moving too fast, especially the tool and its rotational speed will have an impact.

Here is an incomplete list of materials that can be used mechanically:

  • iron
  • aluminum
  • copper
  • polycarbonate
  • solid wood
  • plank
  • frame
  • foam

In some cases, machines need to cut oil, compressed air, or the like. The goal is to cool the equipment and tool, but also to soften it to reduce friction and premature wear. Compressed air is best suited for cutting polycarbonate, for example, to prevent the material from melting and sticking to the tool or tool. Be careful not to use any product, think about your safety and health first. In all cases, with or without oil cutting, wearing a mask, goggles and earplugs is mandatory if the CNC does not have any protective equipment (guessing chips, cutting fluid, smoke, fracture, noise, etc.).

Outside of the industry, the uses of a CNC Carving Machine are many, here are examples: Modeling (wings and aircraft panels, car chassis, building materials), electronics (printed circuits, assembly cases), repair (handles, stops, guides, gears), decoration , cabinet making, violin making, machinery, etc.

Thinking, testing and each research will bring their youthful share to the field.

Structure

Let's take a closer look at what CNC wood carving machine is made of, from the table that will find the machine-made goods. The base is the same as one would have in the case of a manual machine: the equipment should be securely fixed to the work table using a vise, stops, pliers, or attachments, etc., as needed. Sometimes a machining table can be a vacuum table or a "martyr".

Equipment can be built with a machine (cutting machine, drill, blade, recording tip, etc.) Its modified features on the subject and the work to be done. This device is mounted on a so-called spinning wheel, that is, a screwdriver formed by a toolkit and a rotating motor.

All of this is very close to what is set during manual operation. Now let's see how a human action has been replaced by a machine operator:

When the machine with the tool is upright, 3 axes (X, Y and Z) are sufficient to move it in space. And to find yourself in this orthonormal area, one will use an international measurement unit or an Anglo-Saxon system unit.

Most CNCs are based on a solid framework in which various components of a machine are constantly working. There are actually two categories of structures: a mobile table and a mobile gantry. In the first case, the gantry is mounted on a frame in the center and is a clicking axis (X). In the second case, the most common, it comes back: the table is framed and the gantry moves on the axis (X) to cut the click table. This device is relatively inexpensive in space and proves to work in many ways, as does our CNC.

In some cases, it is easy to have a fourth, fifth or nth axis to guide the tool and / or to direct the work; therefore the functions can be applied to the surface of an object not found in 3-axis CNC.
